Physiotherapists

J.P. Chartrand
Registered Physiotherapist & Clinic Owner

Credentials:
-Honors in Bachelor of Human Kinetics Co-op Program from the University of Windsor
-Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from Queen's University
-Member of the Canadian and Ontario Physiotherapy Association

History:
I am the owner of Active Body Physical Therapy. I work as a physiotherapist as well as handling the managerial aspects of a private practice. My experience is focused in sports injuries, motor vehicle injuries, and back, neck and joint pain, as well as ergonomics and functional abilities evaluations. I have taken many post-graduate courses, some of which include McKenzie, Acupuncture, courses with A.P.T.E.I. (Advanced Physical Therapy Education Institute), Chronic Pain, Level 2 Manual Therapy and University level business courses. I am very passionate about physiotherapy and I look forward to helping you feel better.


Sherri Chartrand (Hayes)
Registered Physiotherapist & Clinic Owner

History:
Myself and my husband JP are the owners of Active Body Physical Therapy. My role with the clinic is primarily on the business side. I worked at Hotel Dieu Grace Hospital for 5 years and am currently doing home care physiotherapy for Community Care Therapy. In my career I have worked with a variety of populations and conditions including: pediatrics, geriatrics, neurology, neurosurgery, cardiorespiratory, orthopaedics, and post-surgery. I have taken several post-graduate courses including McKenzie, Acupuncture, courses with A.P.T.E.I., Level 2 Manual Therapy, Karen Orlando's Balls, Bands and Balance and University level business courses. My primary area of interest is working with clients with osteoporosis. I enjoy the challenge of having to work on core stability, balance, strength and conditioning and falls prevention. I completed my MelioGuide to Stronger Bones, working with osteoporosis and osteopenia Level I Training Certification and hope to become more involved with osteoporsis projects in the future.


Amy Doiron
Registered Physiotherapist

History:
I have worked at Active Body Physical Therapy since graduating. My experience includes treatment of people suffering from sports injuries, motor vehicle accidents, work related injuries, back neck and joint injuries, and post-surgical rehabilitation. I have also worked previously with neurological and in-patient orthopaedic populations. I have taken several post-graduate courses including McKenzie Part A and B, Karen Orlando’s Bands, Balls and Balance course, Chedoke-McMaster Course, a course in chronic pain, and hope to continue taking further post-graduate manual therapy courses. With my experience and continued dedication to learning, I hope to offer clients a physiotherapy program that will help them to achieve their goals.


Denise Powers
Physical Therapist

Credentials:
Bachelor of Science - Physical Therapy, graduate University of Western University 1988

History:
My interest in Physiotherapy began around age 10, when I wrote an essay on how I would follow in my father's footstaps to become a Physiotherapist. In the eighteen years as a Physiotherapist I have had the privilege to work in an inpatient hospital setting and outpatient clinics, primarily in Orthopaedics. Together with my work experience and manual therapy courses, I look forward to offering clients an individualized treatment program tailored to their needs.

Laura Boghean
Kinesiologist

Credentials:
Honours in Bachelor of Human Kinetics program from the University of Windsor

History:
Laura graduated from the University of Windsor in 2004 and joined the Active Body Physical Therapy team in February 2006. Over the past year and a half she has been gaining valuable clinic knowledge including many aspects of patient care, from working with individualized exercise programs to office administration.


Jim Cullen
Kinesiologist & FAE Specialist

Credentials:
-Degree in Kinesiology from the University of Windsor

History:
Jim has twelve years of experience delivering functional Ability evaluations. He has also participated in court proceedings as an expert witness in functional assessment and kinesiology. His clinical skill set was broadened by a wide range of post-graduate courses in such areas as ergonomics, functional evaluations, cultural differences in rehabilitation, psychogenic pain, and chronic pain. Jim also has extensive public speaking experience and in delivering vocational rehabilitation services to disabled workers.

As a clinic manager for over seven years in different jurisdictions throughout Canada, Jim developed a keen ability to provide practical, results orientated recommendations from functional assessments. Jim spent seven years working in British Columbia, as clinic manager of a large successful rehabilitation facility that demonstrated successful clinical outcomes in treating and evaluating both acute and chronic clients. Jim was then afforded the opportunity to move back to his hometown in Windsor.

More recently he has accepted a position at the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board as an adjudicator. Jim is pleased to serve as a consultant to ABPT physiotherapy and work synergistically with the excellent staff there to provide the foremost quality of functional abilities evaluations in the Windsor and Essex County area.


Carolyn Miles
Kinesiologist

Credentials:
Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Waterloo

History:
Carolyn was born and raised in Acton, Ontario and graduated from the University of Waterloo in April of 2005. Having several co-op positions under her belt, Carolyn decided to remain in a physiotherapy setting and specialize as a return to work facilitator.


Andrea Ferguson
Kinesiologist

Bachelor in Human Kinetics Movement Science Co-op

History:
Andrea is from Amherstburg, Ontario and graduated from the University of Windsor in December of 2007. Andrea originally joined our team back in the winter of 2005, as a University of Windsor Co-op student. Having recently finished her Human Kinetics degree, she has returned to our clinical team as a full-time Kinesiologist.

Jocelyn Golab
Registered Massage Therapist

Massage Therapy Diploma
Registered with the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario

History:
Jocelyn was born and raised in Windsor where she went to school at the Canadian College of Health, Science and Technology. She successfully completed the Massage Therapy Program. Jocelyn has been practicing as a Registered Massage Therapist since November of 2004. She is excited about starting her new career with Active Body Physical Therapy in LaSalle.


Michelle Kakuk
Registered Massage Therapist

History:
Michelle was born and raised in Michigan and moved to Windsor in 2002. She graduated from CCHST in May 2006 and successfully passed the registration exams in June 2006. She then moved to Vancouver, British Columbia where she worked as a Massage Therapist for 9 months, before returning to Windsor and joining the team at Active Body in April 2007. Michelle is very passionate about client care and the healing process massage therapy can offer.


Paula Rumball

History:
I was born and raised in Leamington and now reside in Windsor. I started my massage therapy career after completing my diploma and registration exams in 2006. I have found massage therapy to be a rewarding profession because it allows me to participate in the healing process with my clients, helping them on their journey to becoming healthier improved people.

Deanna Finn
Office Manager

History:
I have worked as an office administrator in the physiotherapy field for 6 years. I had the opportunity to work with JP at CBI Physiotherapy when he first graduated, and I have been a part of the Active Body Team since 2003. I hope to continue to gain experience and knowledge as the Office Manager and provide quality service to our customers.


Karen Cartier
Kinesiologist and Office Manager

4th year Kinesiology student

History:
I grew up in Blenheim, Ontario and moved to Windsor for University. I am currently in my fourth year of the Human Kinetics program at the University of Windsor. I joined the Active Body team in August 2006 as a co-op

student and I am gaining valuable hands on experience while finishing my degree.
