What is a Chiropodist (Foot Care/Orthotics)?

A Chiropodist is a primary health care provider educated exclusively in the assessment, treatment and prevention of foot disorders. Chiropodists provide patients with total nail and skin care, perform nail and soft tissue surgeries under local anaesthetic, and prescribe and fit patients with custom orthotics and/or orthopaedic footwear. A Chiropodist can also prescribe topical and oral antibiotics, anti-inflammatory and topical anti-fungal medications according to your condition.

A Chiropodist is a licensed primary health practitioner regulated by the Health Professions Act and governed by the College of Chiropodists of Ontario.
